Where Glyndebourne is

Glyndebourne is in the countryside just outside Lewes in East Sussex (postcode BN8 5UU), around 25 miles south of Tunbridge Wells. The drive usually takes around an hour, through Crowborough or Uckfield. From Sevenoaks or Tonbridge, allow a little longer.

The Festival season

The Glyndebourne Festival runs through the summer, from late May to the end of August. Start times vary between performances, so check your tickets and tell us the start time when you book.

The long interval

Every performance has a long interval of around 90 minutes, when most people picnic in the gardens or eat in one of the restaurants. If you’re bringing a hamper, rugs and chairs, tell us when you book so we send a car with enough boot space. The V-Class and Vito take far more than a saloon.

What to wear

Black tie is the tradition, though many guests dress in their own style. Glyndebourne has changing rooms by the main car park if you’d rather travel in something more comfortable.

Getting home

The grounds close around 90 minutes after the performance ends, so there’s time for a last drink before you leave. Tell us the expected finishing time and we’ll agree a pickup point and time with you. Your chauffeur can wait during the performance or come back to collect you, and we’ll include whichever you choose in your quote.

Going as a group

For a party of friends or clients, the V-Class seats up to 7 and the Vito up to 8, so you travel together and arrive at the same time. See our event chauffeur service.
